Hi!

I’m Rachel Rascoe. I write about music and culture.

I’ve been a staff writer for the Austin Chronicle since 2021 and have written a music column for the Austin Chronicle called “Faster Than Sound” since 2019. It’s a collage of news, artists interviews, and all things music in the so-called Live Music Capital.

At the Austin Music Awards, I won Best Music Journalist in 2019 and 2020. I have also contributed to Texas Monthly, Broadly, Austin Woman Magazine, Texas Standard, and Portals. 

I live in Austin, and studied journalism and biology at the University of Texas. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, but drove to Austin whenever I could to swim and go to shows.

I also sing and play viola in Dorio, the songwriting project of my partner Chad Doriocourt. I like taking blurry film photos of plants.
